Food Locker

Count your bites, slow your eating, log your weight. Everything stays on your phone.

Food Locker is a local-first Android app that does two things: it counts your bites while you eat and paces you between them, and it records your body weight over time. It still isn't a calorie logger — there is nothing to look up, weigh, or enter. You tap once per bite and add a weight reading when you step off the scale.

Like everything here, it's built around keeping your data on your device. No account, no cloud, no sync. It is an offline bite counter and body-weight tracker whose entries live in local storage on the phone and go nowhere else. Nothing to sign up for, nothing to leak.

It's for anyone who wants to eat more slowly and keep a plain, private weigh-in log without handing their numbers to a fitness platform. Pair it with Iron Log if you want your training and your body weight both staying on the same phone.

Counting and pacing your bites

The Bite tab is a single big button. Tap it once per bite and it counts the day for you. Between taps, the button's own colour is the pacing signal: red while it's too soon, amber while you should hold on and keep chewing, green once you're clear to take the next one. A haptic buzz fires the moment you reach clear, so you can put the phone down and feel the cue instead of watching it. Out of the box the boundaries sit at 15 and 30 seconds since your last bite.

The pacing is feedback, not a lockout. The button is tappable in every zone and a tap always logs a bite immediately, even a red one, so the record of how you actually ate stays honest. The screen also stays awake for a few seconds after each tap so it doesn't go dark mid-meal.

What the numbers show you

Only the raw bite timestamps are stored; every figure below is derived from them when you open the analytics screen, reached from the chart button on the Bite tab.

  • Daily bites chart — a bar per day over the last 30 days, with your body weight overlaid as a trend line so you can see the two together.
  • Averages and peaks — mean daily bites over the last 30 days and the last year, plus your highest day in the window and the date it fell on.
  • Meals per day — consecutive bites less than five minutes apart are grouped into a meal, giving you today's meal count and an average across the window.
  • Average meal size — bites per meal over the last 30 days.
  • Daily breakdown — pick any day and see the bite count of each meal on it, plus the bites that fell outside a meal, counted as snacks.

The Weight tab keeps its own view: your history, a chart of the trend, and your lowest weight all-time and over the last 7 and 30 days.

Your data, exportable

Everything is stored on the phone, and Settings can export the lot — weight entries, bite log, and pacing settings — into a single zip file you can keep or move to another device, and import back later. It's a backup you hold, not a cloud account you rent.
